Tom Palmer is a British children’s author acclaimed for his engaging stories that intertwine sport and history. His extensive body of work includes over 60 books, many of which are designed to captivate reluctant readers through accessible language and compelling narratives.

Born in Leeds, Palmer developed a love for reading through football articles, an interest fostered by his adoptive mother. He pursued higher education and subsequently worked in libraries and bookshops, experiences that deepened his appreciation for literature and informed his approach to writing. His debut children’s novel, Foul Play, was published in 2008 and was shortlisted for the Blue Peter Book of the Year Award in 2009.

Palmer’s notable series include Football Academy, Foul Play, and The Squad, which combine sports themes with mystery and adventure. He has also authored historical novels such as Armistice Runner, D-Day Dog, and After the War, which explore significant events from the First and Second World Wars.
