Books for 2 year olds

Books for 2 year olds

Books for 2 year olds need to survive a bit of chewing, dropping and enthusiastic page-turning, so sturdy board books, flaps, bright pictures and simple rhymes are ideal. Stories about animals, bedtime, family life, feelings and everyday muddles give toddlers plenty to spot and chat about. Good books at this age invite pointing, joining in, guessing, giggling and asking questions, while making reading feel cosy, playful and worth asking for again. A panel of educators from schools around the country asked settings with two year olds to name their favourite book, and these are the results. For more details about how these books were selected, please see our Children’s Favourites article which explains the survey process. This list features books by Rod Campbell, Eric Hill, Eric Carle, Michael Rosen, Allan Ahlberg, Martin Waddell, Mem Fox, Trish Cooke, Nathan Bryon, and Atinuke.
