Rima Orie biography

Rima Orie is a Dutch author known for her contributions to young adult literature. She gained recognition after winning the Moon Young Adult writing competition in 2018, organised by publisher Moon. Her debut novel, De Zwendelprins, was published in 2019 by Moon. The book draws on South Asian and Middle Eastern influences and has been noted for its fantasy elements.

Orie’s second novel, In het Vervloekte Hart, was published in 2022 by Moon. Her works are published in Dutch and have been well received within the Netherlands. In 2020, De Zwendelprins was shortlisted for the Hebban Debuutprijs, a Dutch literary award for debut authors.

Rima Orie has contributed to anthologies, including Dat heb ik weer (2021), a collection of stories by various Dutch authors. She is represented by Sebes & Bisseling Literary Agency. Orie’s writing often incorporates elements of fantasy and draws inspiration from her Surinamese-Indian heritage.

Her novel De Zwendelprins was nominated for the Jonge Jury Debuutprijs in 2021.
