Malala Yousafzai is a Pakistani author and activist known for her advocacy of girls’ education. She co-authored the memoir I Am Malala: The Girl Who Stood Up for Education and Was Shot by the Taliban, published in 2013 by Little, Brown and Company. The book details her early life in Pakistan, her activism, and the events surrounding the attempt on her life in 2012.
Yousafzai’s memoir has been published in multiple languages and received international recognition. In 2014, she became the youngest recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize. She has also written Malala’s Magic Pencil, a picture book published by Puffin Books in 2017, and We Are Displaced: My Journey and Stories from Refugee Girls Around the World, published by Orion Children’s Books in 2019.
Her works have been included in educational curricula and have received several literary honours. I Am Malala was shortlisted for the 2015 British Book Awards and won the 2013 Specsavers National Book Award for Non-Fiction Book of the Year. Yousafzai’s writing and advocacy continue to be recognised globally. In 2014, she was named to the BBC’s list of 100 Women.
In 2017, Malala’s Magic Pencil was longlisted for the CILIP Kate Greenaway Medal. Her books have been published by major international publishers, including Little, Brown and Company, Puffin Books, and Orion Children’s Books.
