Joshua Foer is an American author and journalist known for his work in science writing and his exploration of memory and cognition. He graduated from Yale University in 2004. Foer’s writing has appeared in publications such as The New Yorker, National Geographic, Esquire, and The New York Times.
Foer is the author of Moonwalking with Einstein: The Art and Science of Remembering Everything, published in 2011 by Penguin. The book chronicles his journey as he trained for and won the USA Memory Championship, and it examines the science and history of memory. The work blends memoir, scientific research, and cultural history, and has been widely discussed in the context of cognitive science and education.
In addition to his writing, Foer is a co-founder of Atlas Obscura, an online magazine and travel company that documents unusual and obscure places around the world. He is also a co-founder of Sefaria, a non-profit organisation dedicated to building a free, digital library of Jewish texts.
Foer’s Moonwalking with Einstein was published in 2011.
