Virginia L. Kroll is an American author of children’s books, known for works that reflect cultural diversity, social themes and nature. She was born in Buffalo, New York, in 1953.
Kroll studied at the State University of New York at Buffalo and later taught primary school before becoming a full-time writer.
She has written more than 60 children’s books, covering topics such as race, religion, disability, animals and environmental issues. Her titles include Jubilee, Masai and I, Wood-Hoopoe Willie, Hands Around the Library and The Thanksgiving Bowl.
Kroll’s books have been recognised with several awards. Masai and I was named a Notable Children’s Trade Book in the Field of Social Studies. Jubilee received the International Reading Association Award.
In addition to children’s literature, she has contributed stories, poetry and articles to magazines and anthologies. She continues to write across a range of genres for young readers.
