Mikey Please is a British animator, writer, and director known for his stop-motion and animated short films. He studied at the University of the Arts London before completing a master’s degree in animation at the Royal College of Art.
Please gained international recognition with his short film The Eagleman Stag (2010), which won a BAFTA Award for Best Short Animation in 2011. His subsequent work includes Marilyn Myller (2013), a stop-motion short that screened at festivals worldwide.
He has collaborated with studios and broadcasters on projects for film, television, and streaming platforms. With fellow animator Dan Ojari, Please co-created the Netflix animated series Robin Robin (2021), produced by Aardman Animations, which was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film.
Alongside directing, Please has written for children’s publishing. His picture book Amphibian Acrobats, illustrated by Jonny Duddle, was published by Two Hoots in 2023.
Robin Robin received a nomination for Best Animated Short Film at the 94th Academy Awards in 2022.
