Lois Pryce is a British author, journalist, and travel writer known for her books documenting solo motorcycle journeys. She began her career working at the BBC and later at the BBC Music department before turning to travel writing. Pryce is recognised for her adventurous spirit and detailed accounts of long-distance motorcycle expeditions.
Her first book, Lois on the Loose, was published in 2007 by Arrow Books. It recounts her solo motorcycle trip from Alaska to the southern tip of Argentina, covering nearly 20,000 miles. The book received attention for its candid narrative and insight into the challenges and rewards of solo travel.
Pryce’s second book, Red Tape & White Knuckles, was published in 2010 by Nicholas Brealey Publishing. This work details her journey riding a motorcycle from London to Cape Town, traversing the length of Africa. The book explores the diverse cultures, landscapes, and political climates she encountered along the way.
In 2017, Pryce published Revolutionary Ride with Nicholas Brealey Publishing. This book chronicles her solo motorcycle trip through Iran, offering observations on the country’s people, history, and culture. The journey was inspired by a note left on her motorcycle in London, inviting her to visit Iran. Revolutionary Ride was shortlisted for the 2018 Edward Stanford Travel Writing Awards.
Lois Pryce’s work has appeared in publications such as The Guardian, The Telegraph, and National Geographic Traveller. She is also a co-founder of the Adventure Travel Film Festival. Her most recent book, Revolutionary Ride, was published in 2017.
