Gcina Mhlophe is a South African author, poet, playwright, and storyteller whose work spans children’s literature, theatre, and oral storytelling. She is known for writing in multiple languages, including English, Zulu, and Xhosa. Mhlophe’s stories often draw on South African folklore and oral traditions, and she has contributed significantly to the preservation and promotion of storytelling in South Africa.

Mhlophe’s published works for children include Queen of the Tortoises, Stories of Africa, and Love Child. Her books are published by various imprints, including University of KwaZulu-Natal Press and Jacana Media.
