Sufiya Ahmed is a British author known for her contributions to children’s and young adult literature. She was born in India and moved to the United Kingdom at a young age. Ahmed pursued a career in political lobbying before transitioning to writing. Her debut novel, Secrets of the Henna Girl, was published in 2012 by Puffin Books. The book addresses themes of forced marriage and cultural identity, drawing on Ahmed’s own experiences and research.
In addition to her work as an author, Ahmed is an advocate for women’s rights and has been involved in various campaigns to raise awareness about issues affecting women and girls. She has spoken at schools and literary festivals, sharing her insights and experiences with young audiences.
Ahmed has also contributed to anthologies and written for educational publishers. Her work often explores themes of empowerment, cultural heritage, and social justice, resonating with readers both in the UK and internationally.
