Scott Andrews biography

Scott Andrews is an American Titanic historian and author whose research focuses particularly on the engineering of RMS Titanic, including the ship’s design, construction and propulsion machinery. His interest in Titanic began in childhood after seeing an image of the liner accompanying a condensed version of Walter Lord’s A Night to Remember.

Andrews is a trustee of the Titanic Research and Modeling Association and has contributed to major reference works about Titanic and the Olympic-class liners. He co-authored Titanic: The Ship Magnificent with Bruce Beveridge, Steve Hall, Daniel Klistorner and Art Braunschweiger. Originally published by The History Press in two volumes in 2008, the work examines Titanic’s design and construction, engineering systems, interior spaces, fittings and accommodation in extensive technical detail.

He also co-authored Titanic in Photographs with Daniel Klistorner, Steve Hall, Bruce Beveridge and Art Braunschweiger. The book traces Titanic’s history through photographs, from the work of Harland & Wolff and the ship’s construction and launch to her maiden voyage, sinking and aftermath, drawing on images from public and private collections.

The two volumes of Titanic: The Ship Magnificent were reissued by The History Press in 2016 as Volume One: Design & Construction and Volume Two: Interior Design & Fitting Out, alongside a combined slipcased edition.
