Rabina Khan biography

Rabina Khan is the author of My Hair Is Pink Under This Veil, a nonfiction memoir about life in modern Britain from the perspective of a hijab-wearing Muslim woman.

My Hair Is Pink Under This Veil grew from an incident during the 2015 Tower Hamlets mayoral election, when Khan was standing as an independent candidate and a male voter asked what colour her hair was under her veil. The incident led to an article, then a talk at the University of Cambridge, and then to her first book.

My Hair Is Pink Under This Veil was published on 25 March 2021 in a 336-page hardback edition and later appeared in a 248-page Kindle edition with updated material on sexism facing women in politics.
