Patricia Falvey is an Irish historical fiction author. She was born in Newry, County Down, Northern Ireland, and was raised in Northern Ireland and England before moving to the United States at the age of twenty. Before becoming a full-time writer, she worked in financial consulting and served as a Managing Director at PricewaterhouseCoopers, where she led a national tax consulting practice.
Falvey studied business at Suffolk University in Boston and later completed a master’s degree in taxation at the University of Hartford. She left her career in financial consulting in 2007 to concentrate on writing.
Her first novel, The Yellow House, was published by Center Street in 2010. Set in Northern Ireland around the period of the First World War and the struggle for Irish independence, it was inspired in part by stories Falvey heard from her grandmother about political unrest in Ulster. She followed it with The Linen Queen, also published by Center Street.
Falvey’s later historical novels include The Girls of Ennismore, published by Kensington in 2017, and The Titanic Sisters. The latter follows Irish sisters Delia and Nora Sweeney as they travel aboard RMS Titanic in 1912 and face dramatically altered lives after the disaster. A UK edition was published by Corvus in 2019.
Her fifth novel, The Famine Orphans, was published by Kensington Books in May 2025. Set during the aftermath of the Great Famine, it draws on the history of the Earl Grey Scheme, under which thousands of young Irish women were sent to the Australian colonies.
