Nicola Penfold is a British author of children’s fiction. Her debut novel, Where the World Turns Wild, was published by Stripes Publishing in 2020. The book was shortlisted for the 2021 Branford Boase Award and the 2021 James Reckitt Hull Children’s Book Award. It was also longlisted for the 2021 UKLA Book Awards and the 2021 Awesome Book Awards.
Penfold’s second novel, Between Sea and Sky, was published by Stripes Publishing in 2021. Her third book, Beyond the Frozen Horizon, was released in 2022. Her works are published by Little Tiger Group under the Stripes imprint.
Nicola Penfold’s books have been recognised for their environmental themes and have received critical attention within the UK children’s literature community. Where the World Turns Wild was selected as a Children’s Book of the Week by The Times in February 2020.
Her most recent novel, The Greenwild: The World Behind the Door, was published by Bloomsbury Children’s Books in 2023.
