Nadia Mikail biography

Nadia Mikail is from Sarawak in Malaysia. Her first novel, The Cats We Meet Along the Way, was published by Guppy Books on 3 February 2022. The novel follows seventeen-year-old Aisha, her mother, her boyfriend Walter and his parents on a campervan journey through Malaysia to find Aisha’s estranged sister, June, after news that the world will end in nine months. In 2023, The Cats We Meet Along the Way won the overall Waterstones Children’s Book Prize.

The same novel was shortlisted for the 2023 YA Book Prize. Its US edition, At the End of the World, was published by Feiwel & Friends on 17 October 2023. In 2025, Nadia Mikail was one of the contributors to The Beasts Beneath the Winds: Tales of Southeast Asia’s Mythical Creatures.
