Mitchell Symons is a British writer, journalist and broadcaster. He studied law at the London School of Economics before working at BBC Television as a researcher and director.
Symons was a principal writer for early UK editions of Trivial Pursuit. He has also written crosswords, newspaper columns and nonfiction books for adults, including That Book of Perfectly Useless Information, This Book… of More Perfectly Useless Information, The Bumper Book for the Loo and Numberland.
His first children’s book, How to Avoid a Wombat’s Bum, was published in 2006. His children’s nonfiction titles also include Why Eating Bogeys is Good for You, How Much Poo Does an Elephant Do?, Why Do Farts Smell Like Rotten Eggs?, Why Does Ear Wax Taste So Gross?, Do Igloos Have Loos? and Why Spacemen Can’t Burp.
Symons wrote the That’s So Gross! series, published by Red Fox. The series includes books on creepy crawlies, history, the human body and animals.
Symons won the Blue Peter Best Book with Facts Award in 2010 for Why Eating Bogeys is Good for You and again in 2011 for Do Igloos Have Loos?.
