Megan Cullis is a British children’s author who writes nonfiction and activity books for Usborne. She studied English at university and later studied Children’s Literature before teaching English to secondary school pupils.
Her books cover subjects including transport, wildlife, history, art and the natural world. They include The Usborne Big Book of Big Trucks, The Usborne Big Book of Big Trains, Bats, The Story of the Vikings Picture Book, Ancient Romans Picture Book and Famous Artists Picture Book. The Usborne Big Book of Big Trains, illustrated by Gabriele Antonini, uses large fold-out pages to introduce different kinds of trains, including steam engines, bullet trains and funicular railways.
Cullis has also written for Usborne’s lift-the-flap books. Look Inside Seas and Oceans, illustrated by Bao Luu, explores marine environments including coasts, coral reefs, mangrove forests and the deepest parts of the ocean. It was published by Usborne Publishing in 2019.
She co-wrote Creative Writer’s Handbook with Katie Daynes. Part of Usborne’s Write Your Own series, the book introduces techniques for writing stories, blogs, scripts and poetry, alongside material on editing and grammar. It was published by Usborne in July 2017.
