Erin Brown biography

Erin Brown is a Northern Irish illustrator and author working in children’s publishing. She studied Fine Art to bachelor’s level and later completed a diploma in Illustrating Children’s Books with the London Art College. Her practice combines hand-drawn line work and traditional media with digitally applied colour, and she frequently illustrates poetry, folklore and nature-themed texts for trade and educational publishers.

Brown’s illustration credits include Tales from the Forest (Little Tiger, 2020), The Big Book of Favourite Irish Myths and Legends (Gill Books, 2021), and The Hound of Ulster: A Bloomsbury Reader (Bloomsbury Education, 2021). Subsequent projects ranged from nature and wellbeing nonfiction to collaborative picture books, among them The Happy Hedgerow (Pikku Publishing, 2021), Old Oak and Little Acorn (Pikku Publishing, 2022), and Finding Calm in Nature (Beaming Books, 2023).

Recent titles include Tread Softly: Classic Irish Poems for Children (The O’Brien Press, September 2023), Into the Witchwood (The O’Brien Press, March 2024), The Big Book of Celtic Gods and Goddesses (Gill Books, March 2024), and Old Oak and the Wildflowers (Pikku Publishing, May 2024). She continues to illustrate Irish literary adaptations and collections for young readers, with work noted for detailed line, atmospheric composition and research-led visual references.

Publication milestone: On 6 October 2025, Writing.ie ran Brown’s craft essay “My Approach to Illustration,” discussing her artwork for W. B. Yeats’s The Stolen Child for The O’Brien Press.
