Emma Carroll is a British author known for her historical fiction aimed at children and young adults. She began her career as a secondary school English teacher before transitioning to writing full-time. Carroll’s debut novel, Frost Hollow Hall, was published in 2013 by Faber & Faber. The book received critical acclaim and was shortlisted for the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize.
Following her debut, Carroll published several other novels, including The Girl Who Walked On Air in 2014 and In Darkling Wood in 2015. Her work often explores themes of adventure and mystery, set against richly detailed historical backdrops. Letters from the Lighthouse, released in 2017, is one of her most popular books, set during World War II and praised for its engaging storytelling and historical accuracy.
Carroll’s books have been recognised with various nominations and awards. Secrets of a Sun King, published in 2018, was shortlisted for the Books Are My Bag Readers Awards. Her 2019 novel, The Somerset Tsunami, was longlisted for the UK Literacy Association Book Awards.
