Dominic Sandbrook is a British historian, broadcaster and writer. He studied at Balliol College, Oxford, completed an MLitt at the University of St Andrews, and earned a PhD at the University of Cambridge.
He has written modern history books including Never Had It So Good: A History of Britain from Suez to the Beatles (2005) and White Heat: A History of Britain in the Swinging Sixties 1964-1970 (2006). His later books include State of Emergency: The Way We Were – Britain 1970-1974 (2010) and Seasons in the Sun: The Battle for Britain 1974-1979 (2012).
In 2020, Sandbrook began co-hosting the history podcast The Rest Is History with Tom Holland.
For younger readers, he writes the children’s history series Adventures in Time, published by Penguin. Alexander the Great By Dominic Sandbrook is a beautifully produced book. With its marvellous illustrations by Edward Bettison, it’s full of fascinating facts and valuable life lessons and, perhaps most important, it is hugely enjoyable to read.
