Deborah Meaden biography

Deborah Meaden writes non-fiction about business and money for both adult and younger readers. Her adult book Common Sense Rules was published on 1 July 2010 by Random House Business. In it, she draws on a life in business, including an early stint in a holiday park, the failure of her first enterprise, and her decision to turn down a multimillion-pound offer for her chain of holiday parks.

In February 2023, she became one of the launch authors for the Little Experts series, with Why Money Matters acquired directly from her for that programme. Why Money Matters was published on 6 July 2023 and illustrated by Hao Hao. The book introduces children to money through topics including coins, banks, taxes, budgeting, savings and interest, and it was written for readers aged 6 to 9.

She followed that with Deborah Meaden Talks Money, published on 8 April 2025. This book is aimed at young readers and explains how money works, where it comes from, how it is made, and how it can be earned, saved, spent and borrowed; it also covers topics such as fiat money, bitcoin, tax and interest. In 2025, Deborah Meaden Talks Money was shortlisted for Factual Book of the Year in The Week Junior Book Awards.
