Daniel Klistorner biography

Daniel Klistorner is an Australian maritime historian and author specialising in the Titanic, particularly its passenger accommodation, cabin allocations, furniture and interior arrangements. His research has included detailed study of surviving passenger lists and other contemporary records relating to the ship’s maiden voyage.

Klistorner is one of the authors of Titanic: The Ship Magnificent, written with Bruce Beveridge, Scott Andrews, Steve Hall and Art Braunschweiger and published by The History Press. The two-volume work examines the ship’s design, construction, machinery, interiors and fittings in detail, including a deck-by-deck study of its accommodation.

He also co-authored Titanic in Photographs with Steve Hall, Bruce Beveridge, Art Braunschweiger and Scott Andrews. Published by The History Press, the book uses photographs and detailed captions to trace the liner from its construction and fitting out through its maiden voyage, sinking and aftermath.

Klistorner has contributed research to Titanic-related books, museum exhibitions, artefact identification and preservation projects. His study of the surviving document known as the Cave List examined evidence for first-class cabin allocations aboard Titanic, and his continuing research has helped resolve questions about individual passengers and their accommodation. He has also served as an interior design consultant and historian on the Titanic II project.
