Claudia Gray is the pen name of American author Amy Vincent. She writes young adult science fiction and fantasy as well as novels set in established fictional universes. Before becoming a full-time writer, she worked in roles including law, journalism and radio.
Gray’s young adult fiction includes the Evernight series, which began with Evernight in 2008, the Firebird trilogy and the Constellation trilogy. The latter begins with Defy the Stars, a science-fiction novel following soldier Noemi Vidal and the highly advanced artificial intelligence Abel as they become unlikely allies during an interplanetary conflict.
She has written numerous Star Wars novels for adult and young adult audiences. Her books include Lost Stars, Bloodline, Leia, Princess of Alderaan, Master & Apprentice, Into the Dark, The Fallen Star and Into the Light. Lost Stars, published in 2015, follows childhood friends Ciena Ree and Thane Kyrell as they find themselves on opposing sides of the conflict between the Galactic Empire and the Rebel Alliance.
Gray is also the writer of DC Comics’ House of El graphic novel trilogy, illustrated by Eric Zawadzki, which explores life on Krypton before the destruction of Superman’s home planet. Her other franchise work includes The Haunted Mansion: Storm & Shade and The X-Files: Perihelion.
Her work for adult readers includes the Mr Darcy & Miss Tilney Mystery series, beginning with The Murder of Mr Wickham. In 2025, Gray returned to the Star Wars: The High Republic series with the young adult novel Into the Light.
