Catherine Wilkins biography

Catherine Wilkins is a British writer, comedian and children’s author. She writes funny fiction for readers aged 9 to 12 and teen readers.

Her first children’s book, My Best Friend and Other Enemies, was published by Nosy Crow in 2012. The book introduced Jess Jackson and began a series that continued with My Brilliant Life and Other Disasters, My School Musical and Other Punishments and My Great Success and Other Failures.

Wilkins has also written When Good Geeks Go Bad, The Weird Friends Fan Club and You’re Not the Boss of Me!. Her Café Chaos series, illustrated by Katie Abey, began with Café Chaos: My Family Is Not a Piece of Cake, published by Nosy Crow in 2025.

Alongside her books, Wilkins has worked as a stand-up comedian and comedy writer. Her comedy credits include writing for BBC Radio 4’s The News Quiz.

You’re Not the Boss of Me! won Best Laugh Out Loud Book for Teens at the 2024 Laugh Out Loud Book Awards.
