Bruce Beveridge is an American maritime historian and author specialising in the technical history of the Olympic-class liners Olympic, Titanic and Britannic. His research has focused particularly on ship design, construction, layout and fittings.
In 2003, Beveridge produced a detailed General Arrangement plan of Titanic which has subsequently been used by teams investigating the wreck. He has also advised publishers, museums, exhibition organisers, model manufacturers, television production companies and news organisations on the ship’s design and technical specifications, and has appeared in documentaries about Titanic.
Beveridge is one of the principal authors of Titanic: The Ship Magnificent, written with Scott Andrews, Steve Hall, Daniel Klistorner and Art Braunschweiger. Published by The History Press, the two-volume work examines the ship in detail, with the first volume covering design and construction and the second concentrating on interior design and fitting out.
He has also co-written Titanic or Olympic: Which Ship Sank? with Steve Hall and Art Braunschweiger, examining and rejecting claims that the two White Star Line sister ships were secretly exchanged before the 1912 disaster. Beveridge contributed to Report into the Loss of the SS Titanic: A Centennial Reappraisal and has worked on several other books concerned with the ship and its history.
In 2022, The History Press published RMS Titanic in 50 Objects, co-written by Beveridge and Steve Hall. The book explores the liner, its passengers and crew through surviving objects, replicas and artefacts connected with the ship.
