Ashley Hickson-Lovence is a British author known for his contributions to contemporary literature. He began his career as a secondary school English teacher before transitioning to writing full-time. Hickson-Lovence’s debut novel, The 392, was published in 2019 by OWN IT! and explores the lives of passengers on a London bus. The novel received attention for its unique narrative style and urban setting.
In 2022, Hickson-Lovence published his second novel, Your Show, with Faber & Faber. This work is a fictionalised account of the life of Uriah Rennie, the first black referee in the Premier League. The novel delves into themes of race, identity, and ambition, reflecting Hickson-Lovence’s interest in diverse narratives and underrepresented voices.
Hickson-Lovence is also pursuing a PhD in Creative and Critical Writing at the University of East Anglia, where he is further developing his craft. His work has been recognised for its innovative approach and contribution to discussions on race and identity in contemporary Britain.
His novels are noted for their exploration of urban life and the challenges faced by individuals in modern society.
