Art Braunschweiger is an American author and researcher specialising in maritime and naval history. His research interests include the Royal Navy during the period 1750-1820, submarine warfare in the Pacific during the Second World War, the Atlantic convoys of the Second World War and the history of RMS Titanic. He has contributed research articles in print and online and has worked as a consultant for Time-Life Books on Titanic.
Braunschweiger is one of the authors of Titanic: The Ship Magnificent, written with Bruce Beveridge, Scott Andrews, Steve Hall and Daniel Klistorner. Published by The History Press in two volumes, the work examines the liner in considerable technical detail. Volume One covers its design and construction, including engineering, navigation, ventilation and other ship systems, while Volume Two documents its interior design and fitting out deck by deck.
He collaborated with the same research team on Titanic in Photographs, a photographic history tracing the ship from its construction at Harland & Wolff through its maiden voyage, sinking and aftermath. The book includes photographs drawn from specialist collections and was published by The History Press.
Braunschweiger also co-authored Titanic or Olympic: Which Ship Sank? with Steve Hall and Bruce Beveridge. Published by The History Press in 2012, the book examines claims that Titanic and its sister ship Olympic were secretly exchanged before the 1912 disaster, using photographic and technical evidence to test the proposed conspiracy.
A revised edition of the two-volume Titanic: The Ship Magnificent was published by The History Press in 2016.
