Angeline Boulley is an acclaimed author known for her debut novel, Firekeeper’s Daughter. She is of Ojibwe descent and is a member of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians. Boulley has worked in various educational and governmental roles, including as the Director of the Office of Indian Education at the U.S. Department of Education.

Firekeeper’s Daughter, published in 2021 by Henry Holt and Co., is a young adult thriller that explores themes of identity, community, and justice. The novel has received widespread recognition and was selected as a Reese Witherspoon x Hello Sunshine Book Club YA Pick. It also won the 2022 Michael L. Printz Award for Excellence in Young Adult Literature and the William C. Morris Award for a debut book published by a first-time author writing for teens.

Boulley has expressed her commitment to writing stories that reflect her Native American heritage and experiences. Her work is noted for its authentic representation of Indigenous culture and issues.
