Pierre Pratt biography

Pierre Pratt began creating comic strips as a teenager and later built a career producing artwork for magazines and advertisements before focusing on children’s books. He has illustrated more than one hundred books for young readers. His awards for illustration include the Governor General’s Award for Illustration, the UNICEF Award at the Bologna Book Fair and the Mr Christie’s Book Award. He has also received three Governor General’s Awards and the Golden Apple Award at the UNESCO Biennial of Illustration Bratislava.

His picture books and illustrated titles include Léon sans son chapeau (1992), Hippo Beach (1997), The Boy Who Ate the World (and the Girl Who Saved It) with Don Gillmor (2008), The Branch with Mireille Messier (2016), Stop Feedin’ da Boids! with James Sage (2017), One Is a Lot (Except When It’s Not) with Mượn Thị Văn (2019), and The Old Man and the Penguin: A True Story of True Friendship with Julie Abery (2020).
