Nona Willis Aronowitz is an American writer and editor. She is the daughter of writer Ellen Willis and sociologist Stanley Aronowitz. Aronowitz has contributed to several publications, including The New York Times, The Cut, and The Guardian. She served as the features editor at Splinter and has also worked as an editor at GOOD magazine and Talking Points Memo.
Her books include Girldrive: Criss-Crossing America, Redefining Feminism (2009), co-authored with Emma Bee Bernstein, which documents a road trip across the United States exploring contemporary feminism. In 2022, Aronowitz published Bad Sex: Truth, Pleasure, and an Unfinished Revolution with Plume, an imprint of Penguin Random House. The book blends memoir, cultural criticism, and history to examine attitudes toward sex and relationships.
Aronowitz edited Out of the Vinyl Deeps: Ellen Willis on Rock Music (2011), a collection of her mother’s music criticism, published by the University of Minnesota Press. She has received fellowships from the Rockefeller Foundation’s Bellagio Center and the MacDowell Colony. In 2022, Bad Sex was longlisted for the Andrew Carnegie Medal for Excellence in Nonfiction.
