Nikkolas Smith is an American author, illustrator, and activist known for his work in children’s literature. He has written and illustrated several picture books that focus on themes of social justice, history, and representation. Smith’s background includes experience as a concept artist, and he often uses his artistic skills to highlight important cultural and historical figures.
Among his published works is The Golden Girls of Rio, which celebrates the achievements of the first American women’s gymnastics team to win gold at the Olympics. He is also the author and illustrator of That Flag, a picture book that addresses the history and impact of the Confederate flag in the United States. Smith’s illustrations are recognised for their expressive style and their focus on contemporary and historical subjects.
In addition to his books, Smith has contributed artwork to various projects and campaigns, using his platform to promote messages of equality and justice. His work has been published by major publishers, including Penguin Random House and Abrams Books.
