Nicholas Halliday is a children’s author, illustrator, publisher and book designer. Working under the HallidayBooks imprint and studio, he creates picture books and provides jacket design, illustration, formatting and full book packaging for a range of publishers.
His bestselling picture book The Lonely Tree follows the first year in the life of a lone evergreen in the ancient oak woodland of the New Forest. The 32-page story is available in hardback, paperback and digital editions, and explores change and friendship through detailed, characterful illustrations.
Halliday also wrote and illustrated The Scummage, a rhyming picture book narrated by a family cat who is bewildered by the arrival of a new baby. The story uses humour and visual clues to help young children understand the needs of a new sibling.
Through HallidayBooks he has delivered design and publishing services for Icon Books, Agenda Publishing and Amaravati Publications, drawing on long experience in book production, cover design and pre-press.
The Lonely Tree was first published in 2005 and The Scummage in 2010.
