Marta Altés biography

Marta Altés is a children’s author and illustrator originally from Barcelona. She studied graphic design before moving to the United Kingdom to pursue an MA in Children’s Book Illustration at the Cambridge School of Art. Altés has written and illustrated several picture books, often exploring themes of friendship, belonging, and self-discovery.

Her debut picture book, My Grandpa, was published by Macmillan Children’s Books. Other titles by Altés include No!, I Am An Artist, The King Cat, Little Monkey, and My New Home. In addition to her own stories, she has illustrated books for other authors.

Altés’s work has been recognised by the children’s literature community. She was shortlisted for the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize in 2014 for No!. Her book Little Monkey was published by Macmillan Children’s Books in 2018.
