Linda Sue Park biography

Linda Sue Park is an author of children’s and young adult books. She was born in the United States and is of Korean descent. Park’s writing often explores themes related to Korean history and culture, as well as broader topics relevant to young readers.

Her debut novel, Seesaw Girl, was published in 1999 by Clarion Books. Park has written a range of works including picture books, poetry, and novels for middle-grade and young adult readers. Among her notable titles is A Single Shard, published by Clarion Books in 2001, which received the Newbery Medal in 2002. Other works include When My Name Was Keoko (2002), Project Mulberry (2005), and A Long Walk to Water (2010).

Park’s books have been published by several imprints, including Clarion Books and Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. She has also contributed to anthologies and written poetry for children. In addition to her writing, Park has participated in educational and literacy initiatives.

In 2002, Linda Sue Park was awarded the Newbery Medal for A Single Shard.
