Kathy Willis writes science and nonfiction, including work for younger readers. She wrote Botanicum, illustrated by Katie Scott, for the Welcome to the Museum series; the book is a guide to plant life for readers aged 8 to 12 and was published by Big Picture Press on 14 March 2017.
Willis has been director of science at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. She has also been professor of biodiversity in the zoology department at the University of Oxford and adjunct biology professor at the University of Bergen. Her scientific publishing includes more than one hundred authored or co-authored scientific publications, including The Evolution of Plants.
Her books include Plants: From Roots to Riches, co-authored with Carolyn Fry, and The Evolution of Plants, co-authored with Jennifer McElwain. She later wrote Good Nature: The New Science of How Nature Improves Our Health, published by Bloomsbury Publishing as an audiobook on 29 August 2024.
