J. L. Simmonds biography
J. L. Simmonds is a British author of young adult fiction, represented by Penguin Books.
She grew up by the seaside and later lived in Bristol. She studied English Literature and worked for ten years in marketing and communications before returning to Bath Spa University to complete an MA in Writing for Young People.
Simmonds describes her writing as “joyful LGBTQ+ YA, bad poetry and text messages with too many emojis.” Her debut novel, Run Away With Me, is scheduled for publication on 5 June 2025 by Penguin Random House.
The novel is a road-trip thriller following two teenage girls—Jessie “Mouse” Swift and Brooke Summer—who flee home and travel across America, navigating secrets, personal trauma and romance.
