Harriet Muncaster biography

Harriet Muncaster is a children’s author and illustrator. She writes and illustrates picture books and chapter books, including I Am a Witch’s Cat, Happy Halloween, Witch’s Cat! and the Isadora Moon series. She has two degrees in illustration, and Isadora Moon was her first chapter-book series.

Her Isadora Moon books are about a child who is half fairy and half vampire. Isadora Moon Goes to School was published in 2016 for readers aged 5 to 9, and follows Isadora as she visits both a fairy school and a vampire school while working out where she belongs.

Muncaster has also created stories about Mirabelle and Emerald, characters connected with the same magical reading world as Isadora Moon. These books give young readers short illustrated chapters with fantasy elements, everyday experiences and recurring characters.

Oxford Children’s Books acquired a new underwater series by Muncaster in 2022.
