Guy Parker-Rees biography

Guy Parker-Rees is a British illustrator and author known for his work in children’s literature. He has illustrated numerous picture books, often collaborating with other writers. Parker-Rees is particularly recognised for his partnership with Giles Andreae, illustrating the popular picture book Giraffes Can’t Dance, first published by Orchard Books in 1999. His distinctive, vibrant illustration style is a hallmark of his work, bringing energy and humour to a range of stories.

In addition to Giraffes Can’t Dance, Parker-Rees has illustrated books such as Spookyrumpus by Tony Mitton, which won the Sheffield Book Award in 2003, and All Afloat on Noah’s Boat! by Tony Mitton. He has also written and illustrated his own books, including Dylan the Doctor and Dylan the Shopkeeper, both published by Orchard Books.

Parker-Rees’s illustrations are widely recognised for their lively characters and engaging scenes, appealing to young readers and supporting the storytelling of various authors. His work continues to be published by major children’s publishers, including Orchard Books and Scholastic.

In 2019, the 20th anniversary edition of Giraffes Can’t Dance was published by Orchard Books.
