Gareth Hinds is an American author and illustrator known for his graphic novel adaptations of classic literature for young readers. He studied illustration at the Parsons School of Design. Hinds has adapted several well-known works, including Beowulf, The Odyssey, Macbeth, Romeo and Juliet, King Lear, Poe: Stories and Poems, and The Iliad. His adaptations are noted for their detailed artwork and faithful engagement with the source texts.
Hinds’s graphic novel Beowulf was first published in 2007. He continued to adapt other classics, with The Odyssey released in 2010 and Macbeth in 2015. His adaptation of The Iliad was published by Candlewick Press in 2019.
