Corrinne Averiss biography

Corrinne Averiss is a British author of children’s books, known for her work exploring themes of emotion, friendship, and family. She studied English Literature at the University of St Andrews. Before becoming an author, Averiss worked in children’s television, including roles as a producer and director for programmes such as Share a Story for CITV.

Averiss’s debut picture book, A Dot in the Snow, illustrated by Fiona Woodcock, was published by Oxford University Press in 2016. The book was shortlisted for the 2017 CILIP Kate Greenaway Medal. She has since written several other picture books, including Joy (illustrated by Isabelle Follath), My Pet Star (illustrated by Rosalind Beardshaw), and The Boy on the Bench (illustrated by Gabriel Alborozo). Her stories often focus on emotional intelligence and the importance of kindness and understanding.

Corrinne Averiss’s book My Pet Star won the Sainsbury’s Children’s Book Award in 2019.
