Chanté Timothy biography

Chanté Timothy is an illustrator and author-illustrator whose children’s work uses movement, vibrant colour, character design and storytelling. She has illustrated non-fiction books and picture books, including picture-book work with Tọlá Okogwu for Simon & Schuster Children’s Books.

Timothy contributed to Dapo Adeola’s Hey You!, which won Children’s Illustrated Book of the Year at the 2021 British Book Awards. Her illustrated books include Daddy Do My Hair: Beth’s Twists, written by Tọlá Okogwu and published by Simon & Schuster in 2022, My Big Mouth, written by Steven Camden and published by Macmillan Children’s Books in 2021, and work in Happy Here, a 2021 collection of stories from Black British authors and illustrators.

Her graphic novel Supa Nova introduces Nova, a young scientist who creates a plastic-eating organism called Chomp while trying to solve plastic pollution. Supa Nova was published by Nosy Crow on 22 May 2025 for readers aged 7 to 9.
