Brian Conaghan is a Scottish author known for his work in young adult fiction. His debut novel, The Boy Who Made It Rain, was published in 2011 by Sparkling Books. In 2014, Bloomsbury published his second novel, When Mr Dog Bites, which was shortlisted for the 2015 Carnegie Medal. Conaghan’s third novel, The Bombs That Brought Us Together, was published by Bloomsbury in 2016 and won the Costa Children’s Book Award the same year.
In 2017, Conaghan co-authored We Come Apart with Sarah Crossan, published by Bloomsbury. His subsequent works include The Weight of a Thousand Feathers (2018) and Cardboard Cowboys (2021), both published by Bloomsbury. Conaghan’s books often address complex themes and are recognised for their distinctive narrative voices.
He has received critical acclaim and several literary nominations, including the Carnegie Medal shortlist and the Costa Children’s Book Award, which he won in 2016 for The Bombs That Brought Us Together.
