Ben Brooks is a British author known for his work in both adult and children’s literature. He published his first novel, Fences, in 2007. Brooks gained wider recognition with his 2011 novel Grow Up, which was published by Canongate Books. His other works for adults include Catholicism (2012), Everyone Gets Eaten (2013), and Lolito (2013). Lolito won the 2014 Somerset Maugham Award.
Brooks is also the author of the bestselling children’s book Stories for Boys Who Dare to be Different, published by Quercus in 2018. The book features short biographies of men from various backgrounds and has been translated into multiple languages. It was followed by Stories for Boys Who Dare to be Different 2 in 2019. Brooks has written additional titles for young readers, including Stories for Kids Who Dare to be Different (2019), The Impossible Boy (2019), and Gods and Monsters (2020).
His books have been published internationally and have received several accolades. Stories for Boys Who Dare to be Different won the 2018 British Book Award for Children’s Book of the Year.
