Annabel Pitcher is a British author known for her contributions to children’s and young adult literature. She studied English at Oxford University and later pursued a career in teaching before becoming a full-time writer.
Pitcher’s debut novel, My Sister Lives on the Mantelpiece, was published in 2011. The book received critical acclaim and was shortlisted for the 2012 Carnegie Medal. It also won the 2012 Branford Boase Award, which recognises outstanding debut novels for children.
Her second novel, Ketchup Clouds, was released in 2012. This work won the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize in the Teen category in 2013. The novel was also awarded the Edgar Allan Poe Award for Best Young Adult Novel in 2014.
In 2015, Pitcher published Silence is Goldfish, further establishing her reputation in the young adult genre. Her writing often explores complex themes and emotional depth, resonating with both young readers and adults.
