Anna Milbourne is a British children’s author known for her non-fiction and board books, especially those published by Usborne Publishing. She has worked with Usborne since 1998, following studies that included an Art Foundation course and a degree in German Literature and Philosophy from Oxford University.
Milbourne has written more than sixty books for children, with titles such as How Big Is a Million? (2007), How High Is the Sky? (2009), How Deep Is the Sea? (2009), and How Big Was a Dinosaur? (2011). Her work is recognised for its accessible approach to mathematical and scientific ideas, often introducing concepts through narrative storytelling.
Her board books for younger readers include On the Moon, The Sunny Day and The Deep Ocean, which combine information with playful illustration and design. Several of her books use the character Pipkin the penguin to guide children through questions about numbers, size and distance.
The most recent milestone in her career is the publication of The Deep Ocean board book in the early 2020s.
