Alicia Jasinska biography

Alicia Jasinska is an Australian author of young adult fantasy fiction. Alongside her writing, she has worked as a library technician and practises aerial arts, including trapeze and aerial hoop. Her novels draw on fantasy, folklore and romantic storytelling.

Her debut novel, The Dark Tide, was published in Australia by Penguin Random House Australia in 2020 and in the United States by Sourcebooks Fire. Set in the island city of Caldella, it follows Lina Kirk and the Witch Queen Eva as an annual magical sacrifice approaches and the two become increasingly important to one another.

Jasinska followed it with The Midnight Girls, published by Penguin Random House Australia in 2021 and Sourcebooks Fire in the United States. Inspired by Slavic folklore, the novel centres on Marynka and Zosia, two young women serving powerful witches who compete to capture a prince’s heart while developing feelings for each other. The Midnight Girls was named a 2022 Children’s Book Council of Australia Notable Book in the Older Readers category.

Her third novel, This Fatal Kiss, was published by Peachtree Teen in 2024. It follows Gisela, a water nymph who hopes to regain her humanity, and Kazik, a spirit hunter whose attempt to exorcise her leads to an uneasy agreement and a complicated relationship involving a mysterious young man named Aleksey.

Jasinska is also the author of This Lethal Love, a further young adult fantasy novel scheduled for publication in 2027.
