Adam Auerbach is an author and illustrator of children’s books. His picture book Edda: A Little Valkyrie’s First Day of School was published by Henry Holt and Co. (BYR) on 24 June 2014 for readers aged 4 to 8.
Edda: A Little Valkyrie’s First Day of School is about Edda, a young Valkyrie from Asgard who goes to school on Earth because she wants to make friends her own age. The book received the Ezra Jack Keats New Author Award and was also a CCBC Choice.
Auerbach both wrote and illustrated Monkey Brother, released on 27 June 2017 by Holt/Ottaviano. The picture book follows an older brother whose younger brother behaves like a monkey, and it was published for ages 4 to 8.
Auerbach continued to use Norse-inspired material in The Three Vikings, which he wrote and illustrated. The book was released on 12 March 2019 by Christy Ottaviano/Henry Holt and follows three Vikings seeking entry to Valhalla.
His illustrations have been used on book covers and in print publications. Later children’s titles connected with his illustration work include The Mysterious Missing Matzoh by Alan Katz, illustrated by Adam Auerbach, released on 11 February 2025.
