Yenn Purkis biography

Yenn Purkis is an autistic and non-binary advocate, author and presenter. Purkis has a Masters degree in Fine Art from RMIT University, has given a presentation for TEDx Canberra, and has been a frequent keynote presenter at autism and disability events for several years. Purkis received the 2016 ACT Volunteer of the Year award. Purkis has also worked full-time for the Australian Public Service since 2007.

Purkis writes books about autism, mental health, resilience and identity for children, teenagers, parents and adults. Books by Purkis include The Guide to Good Mental Health on the Autism Spectrum (2016), The Parents’ Practical Guide to Resilience for Children aged 2-10 on the Autism Spectrum (2017), The Awesome Autistic Go-To Guide: A Practical Handbook for Autistic Teens and Tweens (2019), The Autistic Trans Guide to Life (2021), and A Life Lived Well as a Non-binary and Autistic Mental Health Advocate: Finding a Place of Hope (2023).
