Wen Hsu Chen is a Costa Rican artist and architect. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts with Honours from the Rhode Island School of Design. Her artistic technique combines watercolour with cut-out paper.
She is the illustrator of several children’s books. Titles include The Invisible Story by Jaime Gamboa.
The Invisible Story was published in 2024 for ages approximately 6-9. It uses visual texture to depict a story about a book unnoticed on shelves, which comes alive through a blind reader’s touch; it includes an author’s note about Braille.
Her style has won multiple awards, including the Grand Prize at the NOMA Concours in 2008.
