Recommended reading books for primary & secondary aged children in the UK
Victoria Williams (often styled “Vicky”) holds degrees in Evolutionary Biology and Science Communication. She is a UK-based author who writes non-fiction for children, specialising in topics such as science, geography, culture and curious facts.
Her works include Weird Sports and Wacky Games Around the World: From Buzkashi to Zorbing, Food Cultures of Great Britain, Brain Stretchers, Encyclopedia of Spices and the Spice Trade, and Celebrating Life Customs around the World: From Baby Showers to Funerals.
Williams completed a PhD which focused on fairy tales in Victorian literature, art, and film. She has also lectured on topics including depictions of childhood in 1940s film, London society and culture, British folk customs, and other cultural histories.
Her book Weird Sports and Wacky Games Around the World won the 2016 RUSA Outstanding Reference Sources Award.
